The EPS Approach to Surge Protective Devices (SPD)
Your facility will benefit from any pro-active steps taken to eliminate surges. We understand that full system integration may not be your first step, and have developed several methods to begin the process.
LEVEL 1
You may be questioning whether or not your business even has a surge problem. Our SPD entry step is to install some SPDs on electrical panels with electric motor activity, sensitive equipment, or lighting panels. The Innovative Technology SPD has a Surge Counter display that will count and verify your level of surges. We can examine the Surge Counter on a regular basis and then make recommendations on the next steps.
LEVEL 2
In addition to the Level 1 measures, add a SPD to your Main Electrical Panel. The goal of Level 2 is to eliminate external sources of surge activity like power outages, lightning, and transformer failures. External surges are typically the largest and most instantaneously destructive. Everyone has heard stories of the restoration of power to a facility or home and the consequential failure of electrical equipment. Again, the Surge Counter will verify and record the surge activity.
LEVEL 3
In addition to the Level 1 & 2 measures, add SPDs to all electrical panels with electric motors, sensitive equipment, and lighting panels.
LEVEL 4
In addition to the Level 1, 2, & 3 measures, add Full Protection from surge activity. This would include installing SPDs on all electrical panels, points of use for sensitive equipment (Eaton surge strips), and low voltage uses like data and telecommunications.
Whatever level of initial protection interests you, we are pleased to help you get started.
